One of Us
2022 - ongoing
William, Paul and Giuseppe are all migrants from different countries in Europe who moved to London years ago searching for a better life.
This project is about their everyday lives as immigrants in London during a time where Britain decided to exit the EU and restrict free movement from the continent.
Immigration, housing crisis, loneliness and hope are elements I try to emphasise in my project, by showing a personal story of individuals who are struggling to achieve their ambitions.
Inspired by the work of W. Eugene Smith, Jim Mortram and Dennis Stock, I intend to develop a photo-essay that shows compassion and intimacy.
The use of a wide-angle lens helps me to come closer to my subjects, offering the viewer a stronger sense of involvement in the story.
Proximity to the people in the frame for me is a means to achieve a better and more profound understanding of human connections and what brings us together.
